News Death Notice
MCCALL, Velma A. Age 68, of Dayton, born February 3, 1948 in Birmingham, AL, left this life to be with the Lord February 21, 2016. She served on the Usher Board of Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Before her residency at Friendship Village Nursing Home, she was a faithful member of Omega Missionary Baptist Church. She was a beloved co-worker and was employed in several roles at the Dayton Board of Education for 45 years. Preceded in death by her father, Hubert McCall; mother, Onzella Rhinehart; sisters, Ruby Jean and Francis McCall. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Donyea and Donya McCall; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a host of family members and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, February 26, 2016 at Mt. Enon M. B. Church, 1501 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Pastor Cory J. Pruitt officiating. Internment West Memory Gardens. Visitation from 9-11 am. Family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. My heart goes out to you all. Father please wrap your strong arms around the family, may they take comfort in the many happy memories that they have of their loving mother, grandmother, sister and auntie. Lord let us remember that you listen through our hearts when we are unable to pray with words.

Donyea, our hearts were heavy at the news of Ms. Velma's passing. We had no idea when you married into the family, she came as a package deal! What a gift to us she has been. My love for her was sealed when I saw how she loved and cared for our Mother -- she was always kind to Caliel too! It was evident how she spread her love around when all her friends came to celebrate her surprise birthday. She definitely left her footprint on a lot of heart. Life just doesn't seem right without your parents but the beauty of God is his gift of memory and allowing us to still feel their love. We will be praying for you and your family.
