Joseph Philip Hector "Joe"

Joseph "Joe" Philip Hector, 46, of West Grove, PA passed away on April 18, 2013. He was the husband of Valerie Reitz-Hector with whom he shared 14 years of marriage.

Born March 11, 1967 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Flora Walls Hector of West Grove, Pennsylvania and the late Gene A. Hector of Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to his wife Valerie, he is survived by his son Joseph Jordan Hector; his brother John P. Hector and wife Earlene and their children John, Brittany, Marcus, Flora, Sheila, and Olivia; great nieces Kamya and Kisiah and his half-brother, Gene A. Hector and wife Matty and their son Gene Autrey Jr.

Joe was a 1985 graduate of Avon Grove High School, where he was a highly accomplished wrestler. He was passionate about fitness and worked for many years as a bouncer at The Stone Balloon in Newark, DE and the Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach, DE. Loved in the community, Joe most recently worked for the YMCA of Kennett Square as a personal trainer.

Joe loved spending time with his wonderful wife and son. He was an avid gamer and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was kind and comforting to everyone he met, and through his triumphs over health issues, Joe was an inspiration to all who knew him.

You are invited to visit with Joe's family from 5-7 pm Wednesday April 24, at the Red Clay Room 423 Dalmation Street Kennett Square, PA 19438. A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will follow at 7 pm. Interment will be held privately. Donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Joseph Jordan Hector Education Fund C/O M+T Bank, Pike Creek Branch, 4899 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
