Rita Cernos Obituary
AGE: 79 • Wilmington
Rita J. Cernos, age 79, of Wilmington, DE, went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 5, 2014. Rita graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. She retired as a professional of the food and beverage industry. The most important thing in Rita's life was her family. As the family rock she was a dedicated mother and father to her children, a loving mom mom, and a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. Rita enjoyed CNN, the beach, and the music of Frank Sinatra and George Benson, and her musician friend Frank Goreman. She spent many enjoyable hours in solitaire challenges, YouTube laughs and cheering on the Phillies. Rita was an independent, strong-minded, and opinionated woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Rita is survived by her children: Theresa, David (Sherry), Gregory (Lori), Michelle, and Christopher; 10 grandchildren and 2.5 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Keffala; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Mary Sprogell; grandson, Michael; sister, Mary; and brother, Clement.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2-3 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Rita's life at 3 PM. Burial will be private. The family wishes to thank the loving "team" at Compassionate Care Hospice - you know who you are, the Nemours Senior Care, and especially Rita's BBF, Storm.
