I remember the morning of September 11, 2001 when John entered my classroom to check on a report that a small plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. We watched in horror as the events unfolded before our eyes. I knew that he had many friends on the NYFD and this was personal to him. John and I shared many laughs and always cherished our friendship. He was one of the people who welcomed me to Ridley in 1990. Thanks John

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr Rankin. I remember him as Dean of Students at RHS. He was so kind to me and was a decent person. My thoughts and prayers will be with the Rankin Family.

To Kevin and Katie,
It was a privilege to work alongside your dad at Ridley High School. If there was ever trouble at school, you knew John had your back. I remember asking the firemen at the Harlem NYC station (the "Harlem Hilton" as your dad called it) to sign his retirement card when he finished up at RHS. I am your dad's age, and his untimely passing reminds me to make the most of every day.
Peace and blessings to you and the rest of your family.

Dear Katie, Kevin, Chris, Bob and family,
We are so sorry for your loss. My fondest memories growing up was our families getting together for holidays (Christmas and playing Santa), picnics, Miss America shows and just "family" getting together. We will keep all of you in prayer. Sending hugs. RIP Jack, you will be missed.
Love,
Jim & Linda Loane

Katie and Kevin, we are so sorry about the loss of your Dad! He was such a great guy! He was so loved by many in Ridley and had a great presence in the classrooms, halls and fields. Even in his retirement, he helped with "athletics". He always made Ridley a safe place to work because he always had your back. He was both fun and serious when he needed to be. My children and I were all blessed to know him. May God bless you "JR". We will miss you!
Love,
The Salerno Family
