Edward Prutzer Obituary

Edward S. Prutzer Sr., 91 World War II Veteran Edward S. Prutzer Sr., 91, died peacefully on January 17, 2012 at Naamans Creek Manor. He was born in Brewerytown section of Philadelphia, PA on July 4, 1920, a son of the late Mary (Link) and Charles Prutzer. He graduated from Northeast High School class of '39. Ed served in the US Coast Guard from 1942-1946 during World War II. He served aboard the USS Hunter Liggett in the Pacific. He played on the Coast Guard Baseball Team in Jersey City and did some boxing after going thru C.O.T.P. training under Jack Dempsey. He retired from the Gulf Oil Co. in 1981. Ed was a member of Brewery Town - Fairmont Sports all-timers American Legion Post 761 and an original member of Briarcliffe Father & Son. He was the husband of the late Theresa (nee Grady) Prutzer. Survivors: 2 daughters Miriam A. Kelly of Aston, PA and Theresa Abrego, of Trappe, MD; 3 sons Edward S. Prutzer Jr. of Ellicott City, MD, Steven Prutzer PhD. of Stowe, MA and Richard Prutzer of Havertown, PA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Services / Burial are Private.
