Diane Turner Obituary

Diane Marie Turner, 66 Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Diane Marie (nee DiValerio) Turner, 66, beloved Wife of Donald G. Turner, Sr., of Upper Darby, Pa., passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013, at her home in Upper Darby. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was a daughter of Anita (nee Bockus) Bello of Briarcliffe, and the late Frank DiValerio. She was a 1967 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School, and for 35 years she provided loving and caring daycare services for many children in her home for the Delaware County Children & Youth Services Organization. Diane was also a Past President of the Delaware County Citizens Advisory Committee, and had been active for many years with the Upper Darby Little League Association. Diane was a Charter Member and Past President of the Upper Darby Marine Corps League Detachment #884 of Upper Darby, Pa. Ladies Auxiliary who was very instrumental in forming that organization and had been extremely active with all of it's functions since it's inception many years ago. In 2003 she started a program through the Marine Corps League Ladies Auxiliary to send care packages to the troops overseas and through the years has helped send out thousands of care packages to the troops. For all of her many years of dedicated service to many different military and veterans organizations she was awarded the very prestigious Chapel of the Four Chaplains Award in 2005. One of the greatest enjoyments in her life came from spending time with her family and friends, and especially all of her 9 grandchildren, whom she absolutely cherished and adored. Diane will always be remembered by countless individuals as a loving and caring person who always went out of her way to help others in need, and who always tried to bring a smile to the face of everyone she met, and who tried to always brighten your day with a lot of care, concern, encouragement, and hugs. She will be greatly missed not only by her loving family, but this entire community as well. Survivors: In addition to her Husband and Mother, Diane is also survived by her Children; Michele Kiesel (Jim) of Downingtown, Kim Chambers (Frank) of Springfield, Donnie Turner, Jr. (Jen) of Newtown Square, her 9 Grandchildren; Matthew, Noah, Frankie, Emily, Sarah, Jayden, Danny, Danielle, and Reagan. She is also survived by her Siblings; Jeannette Larkin (Rich), Anita Purnell (Jim), Vera Horst (the late Richard), Vincent Bello, Jr. (Kim), Ginny Marchetti (Ralph) and Judy Neufeld and many Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her Father, she was also preceded in death by her Brother; the late Frankie DiValerio, and her Sister; the late Nancy Sweeney. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Diane's Life Celebration on Tuesday evening, October 1, 2013, from 6:00-9:00 PM, and again on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2013, from 8:30-9:30 AM at Spencer T. Videon of Drexel Hill, Garrett Road at Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill, Pa., 19026, and to participate in her Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday morning, 10:30 AM, from Saint Laurence Roman Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, Pa, 19082. Interment: Will follow at the Washington Crossing National Veterans Cemetery in Newtown, Pa. Contributions: Diane's family has respectfully requested that all flowers be omitted and in keeping with her philosophy of helping others that anyone wishing to do so may make a memorial contribution in her name to Operation First Response (an organization dedicated to helping wounded heroes and their families), 20037 Dove Hill Road, Culpepper, Va., 22701, which would be deeply appreciated by her family. To The Turner & DiValerio Families,

We are so sorry for the loss of Diane, a very special person and soul. She welcomed us with open arms as part of your family. We so enjoyed her company. She was so warm, kind and loving, and she and Unc raised a wonderful family. Words cannot express how saddened we are; however, we will always keep her close to our hearts and remember her for the terrific person she was. May God bless your family at this time and know that Diane's legacy will continue to live on through memories, traditions and her family.

I am so very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Diane. My deepest sympathy to the Turner and DiValerio Families. Diane's enthusiasm for the birth of each and every one of her grandbabies was the sweetest I have ever seen. She holds a special place in many hearts that will never be forgotten.

My heart goes out to Diane's family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how you are feeling and what you are going through. I know all too well that there are no words that will bring you comfort at this time. Be there for each other, lean on each other. Be there for your dad, he will need you in the coming weeks and months. Prayers to you all and to Diane. She was such a warm and loving person. She was the most selfless person I knew and she helped so many others. What I liked best about her was her quiet, unassuming sense of humor. She always made me laugh when I was in her presence. Her life was cut too short but she made the most of it. Maybe she's up there sharing a laugh with my dad in the newcomers lounge. Bless you all and you have my sincerest condolences.

I grew up knowing "Mrs. Turner" and always admired her a great deal. I was the lucky recipient of a few care packages from her while deployed in Iraq and recently caught up with her in April of 2013 following my own fathers death. I will always have wonderful memories of her. My prayers are with you all and please take comfort in knowing she touched many lives!

Mrs. T,
I don't even know where to begin. You have always been an extraordinary woman. You always put others before yourself and loved everyone unconditionally. For me, that love was so special becaused you filled the hole in my heart when my grandmom passed away. Now I'm sad to say there are two empty spots in my heart. You gave us more memories than there are stars in the sky (my favorite will always be when you cut a piece your birthday cake before your party). You have served as an inspiration to everyone you meet. You've left permanent marks on all of our lives. Thank you for being such an inspiration and for watching over all of us because I know you are. Give my mommom a kiss for me! I love you and I always will!
