Lois Hayman Obituary

Hayman, Lois W.

Burlington, VT-Lois W. Hayman, 87, died peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Starr Farm Nursing Center after a slow decline in her health. Lois spent her life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland until her move to Vermont in June 2007 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Hayman in 2006.

Lois is survived by her two daughters, Charlene O'Neill, of Portland, Oregon, and Cindy Hayman (and husband Bill Pence) of Charlotte, Vt., her three grandchildren, Molly O'Neill and her partner Ashley Haywood, of Portland, Oregon, Jeremy O'Neill and his wife Katherine, of Stowe, Vt., Jonathan Pence and his wife Leah of South Burlington, and four great-grandchildren, Rowan, Pearl and Lily Haywood-O'Neill of Portland, Oregon and Simone Pence of South Burlington. Lois also leaves her sister, Wanda Gordy and her husband John, of Alexandria, Virginia, brothers-in-law Thomas and wife Anne Hayman, and Howard and wife Audrey Hayman all of Salisbury, Md.

Lois will be remembered for her devotion to her children and grandchildren. We felt very lucky to have her with us in Vermont during the last few years of her life. Despite her failing health she remained our mother and grandmother, always showing interest in our lives and our happiness. She will be missed.

The family would like to thank Penny St. Cyr, her friend and caregiver, for all the support and love she provided Lois in her final years.

At Lois's request there will be no funeral service but the family will gather in Maryland at a later date for a small grave side ceremony.

Anyone wishing to donate in Lois' memory may contribute to the Asbury Methodist Church in Salisbury, Md.

Your mother was such a lovely, sweet person and had a beautiful smile.
