As I write this, Dick is being laid to rest in Palmyra. I am sorry I was not able to attend the calling hours yesterday or funeral today, and I want to express my sincerest condolences to Joanne, Karen, Jim, Brett, and the rest of the family I have not met. I only met Dick once, but I have met and spoken with Joanne on many occasions, and my heart reaches out to you. Dick is someone I wish I could have helped and am truly sorry that I couldn't do more for.

Dear Joanne and Family, Sorry to hear of Dick's passing. My best to you and the family. I've admired many of the projects he landscaped in the community, and many endure and are easy to see his signature upon them. His spirit lives in the many beautiful trees he had a hand in planting in our community. I will never forget coming in low over the corn field approaching Hershey Pa. when I flew with you two to the nursey show there in the little plane.

Dear Joanne,
I am so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. He and I became acquainted many year's ago when I hired him to do some landscape designs at the Penfield Racquet Club. I was always amazed at his memory of plants and trees. From that point on, every project I'd chase down Oakleaf not just for the expert help but also for the fun and storytelling. Marines, golf shots and hunting stories were entertaining and never without a laugh.
My deepest sympathies for all his family and friends.

...my fondest (and probably most horrific) memory of my Uncle Dick:
Years back our families would go vacationing together. This one particular memory was when we were camping at Sampson State Park. Our families ventured out to the abandoned military base roads and barracks. I was a young teen, no more than 12. My mom and I were walking the abandoned roads trying to keep up with the others in front. All was quiet and peaceful. Suddenly, I hear a growl. Not just any growl, but a growl from a very angry animal. My first thought was that it was a bear. I stood frozen in the road unable to move. Uncle Dick came out of the hedgerow laughing hysterically. He was the bear. To this day I can still feel my spine turning yellow remembering this.
I hope there's big game in Heaven Uncle Dick and I hope you remembered your bow and arrows.
Love, (your woosie niece),Christine
...forever in my heart <3
