Joseph Gavett Obituary
William (Bill)
Pittsford: Passed away on September 17, 2013 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Gavett and his sister, Betty Hancock. He is survived by his wife, Carol of 62 years; three children, Bruce Gavett, Jim Gavett and Ann Gavett; three grandchildren, Jennifer Gavett, Carrie Gavett and Trisha Gavett; two nieces and nephews, Tracy Forfa (Rich) and Joe Hancock (Jacque). Bill was a WW II Navy veteran, Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester, active in the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford, involved in Habitat for Humanity and loved his summers in the Adirondack Mountains.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM Saturday October 5, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford, NY or the Flower City Habitat for Humanity.

Bill had a special chair where he sat nearly every day under the Honey Locust tree in our front yard to take a respite from his walk. We will miss his visits and his quiet love of nature. We have a little sign on the chair that says "Bill's chair". He always told us it belonged to him! Marcia and Richard Gamble, 1 Vantage Dr.
