Plattsburgh: Joanne M. LaPierre-Beardsley, 79, of Honeoye Falls, NY, died Dec. 26, 2016 in Plattsburgh, NY.
She was an educator for 35 years and retired from the Fairport School District in 1992.
Joanne is survived by her brother Larry LaPierre of Albuquerque, NM; her sister Judi LaPierre of Morrisonville, NY; nephews, Michael and James LaPierre, and Matthew Dandrow; nieces, Stephanie LaPierre, Marissa Dandrow, and Lindsay Mehrman, and several great nephews and nieces.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Sylvia LaPierre, her husband, John Beardsley, and her infant siblings, Michael, Peter, and Maryanne LaPierre.
Joanne was a staunch supporter of animal, Native American, and women's rights.
A Memorial Mass will take place Saturday Jan. 14th at 11:00 am at St. Paul's of the Cross Church in Honeoye Falls, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to the above causes if desired.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Was so sorry to find out today that Mrs. Beardsley passed away last December. She was my 6th grade teacher at Northside E.S. In Fairport NY back in the early 1970's and she was dearly loved by all her students. She was a mother figure to us all and influenced my life as an adult in many positive ways. I'm just sorry I never was able to tell her that personally. She will be greatly missed by all and today's world needs more teachers like Mrs. Beardsley. Rest in peace kind woman. ❤

Joanne and I were neighbors in Morrisonville from childhood through elementary school. We reconnected twenty years ago and renewed a now long distance friendship. We shared memories, interests, and values, including a love of cats. I miss her greatly and will always do so.
