Craig Johnson Obituary

Craig Howard Johnson, beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend died Thursday, January 2, 2014. Craig lived a full, meaningful life, and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with such immense conviction and joy, it had a profound impact on everyone who knew him. Born February 4, 1951, the oldest of five siblings, Craig was a natural born leader and possessed a keen intellect. Craig earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD and Master's of Science in Educational Psychology from Marywood University, Scranton, PA. Employed by national homebuilder, Pulte, as Division President from 1981 to 1991, Craig left the corporation and opened a successful real estate development venture, Johnson Communitites Inc., with brothers, Court and Tyler. His expertise in the areas of operations and marketing was recognized by many, but it was his hands-off management philosophy coupled with the trust, freedom and responsibility he gave his employees that was the foundation of his business-related achievements and created enduring loyalties and friendships. Throughout his lifetime, Craig was devoted to his family. He derived tremendous pleasure and pride from his children's accomplishments and independence. He was a trusted source of counsel for them and for so many others. He truly listened to anyone who came to him for advice and direction. His generous spirit and calling to make a difference extended beyond family and friends. He traveled to some of the poorest and most remote parts of the world where he worked to heal and shelter people in need. Craig is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lisa; parents, Howard and Dorsey; children, Rian, Aaron, Christoper, Lauren and Craig, Jr. "C.J."; siblings, Court, Tyler, Starck and Dodee; grandchildren, Anthony and Jude. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Private services were held with burial at Fairmount Cemetery.
