I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I painted with her for a long time. She was such a joy to be around! I'll miss her smiling face. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Carol was a special aunt and I was delighted to be her oldest niece. I have many fond memories of summer times spent with Carol and her younger sister Patricia Sharp Johnson when my mother (her older
sister Jean Sharp Kirk) and my brother Robert Vernon Kirk were visiting my grandparents (Vernon and Velva Morrison Sharp) in Barboursville, WVA during the 1960's. Going food shopping for Grandma Sharp and finding a way to stop at Stewart's for root beer and hot dogs still comes to mind. I am grateful to have many items that Carol hand painted, and I know many will recall her gift of music. I'll never forget the first time I visited Carol and Barton in SLC and saw her amazing Santa collection. I regret that I am unable to attend the service but extend my heartfelt sympathy to Carol's other nieces and nephews and most especially to Layne, Esther, Brook and their children.

We are sad to hear of the passing of this very talented and sweet soul. We loved hearing her play the organ. I know that my mother Mary Louise and father Keith were good friends of Bart and Carol also. I'm sure they are all together now-- along with their sweet daughter. I personally owe a lot to Bart and Carol for helping me arrange to take over the Cabin on 2300 East (just south of 33rd South) with my computer business when she decided to close her arts and crafts store there in about 1987. That was a big turning point (in a positive way) for my computer business. I am glad that my wife Nola and I got a chance to talk to her after she played the organ for Warren Maw's funeral about 16 months ago. Since then, my wife has been called to be our ward organist in the Garden Heights So. Ward and can hopefully carry on the same tradition of dedication which Carol and my mother Mary Louise and step mother Reida did playing the organ for the ward. Best wishes, Reid and Nola Swenson
