Mr. Waters is my hero! He was my teacher from 4th and 5th grades. He taught me to love math, English, science and history! He pushed me to do more than what was asked, always giving extra things to learn when I was done with the assignment and was bored. He taught us to play games and have fun learning. He was almost always out at recess with us playing kickball, softball, jacks or hopscotch. I don´t think he took a break the whole school day! He taught how wonderful it is to learn new things. I think of him often when I am struggling with something he would always say "just think about it and try again, you´ll get it. Rest in Peace dear Mr Waters!

Mr. Waters was a wonderful teacher. I still remember how he could throw a football a mile into the air. I loved seeing him at the library for all those years. He touched many lives.

Wow, the only age to Mr. Waters I could see by his picture, after thity- five years, was a change in his hair color! Although the news is sad, it stirred up many wonderful memories of the many weekends our families spent together at various parks, while my father, Roger Parsons (who passed away in June 2005), played horseshoes with his friend.
I know the days ahead will be difficult for all of you because your husband, your father, your grandfather, your teacher, and your friend was the type of person who could never be forgotten once he made an impact on your life. I know. I was a child when he came into mine as my father's friend and my friend's father. he volunteered his time in helping my father build our backyard horseshoe court, and whenever I was around him, he always had a smile on his face and pleasant things to say about everyone ( yet he could also be a big tease) . So, be proud and know how lucky you all are that makes saying goodbye to such an unforgettable person so hard.
Know the best prayers of me, my mother (Beth), and the rest of our family are with you.

Mr. Waters was my fifth grade teacher at Liberty Elementary. He clearly loved teaching and made learning fun. We missed him so much when he was out with his appendectomy that we threw him a party when he returned. I remember how he truly made me feel important... even as an adult, when I took my own daughter to the Murray Library where he called me by name and told my daughter all about her mom as a ten-year-old. I hope that I, as a teacher myself, have inspired my students in the same way he inspired me. "School's out, Mr. Waters. Enjoy your break!" With love,
Phillip Jarvis

I want to express my thoughts and condolences to the family as well. I had the privledge of having Mr. Waters 2 years (5th & 6th grade) at Liberty. He was a great teacher and influence. May you find and have the peace only offered through the plan of a loving father-in-heaven.

Mr Waters was one of my most beloved teachers when I was growing up. He was my 5th grade teacher at Liberty Elementary school and I always admired him for his genuine care for each and every one of his students. From him I remember most: his way of clearing the chalkboard trays with his hands and then clapped the dust off during lecture times in class, the importance of neat handwriting, how a can of coca-cola was "so acidic that it would eat right through a soaking bolt (on the library shelf)" :), but most importantly he set an example of how to respect others through word & action. The world has lost a great man. I pray that your family finds peace and comfort in knowing that he touched so many lives on his way to heaven.

Dear Waters Family,
Whenever I'm asked who my favorite teacher was, I think of Mr. Waters. And, he made me feel like his favorite student, just like he did the rest of the students. I hope he knew what a wonderful impact he had on the lives of so many young people. What a truly great man! My deepest sympathy to you all.

He was my 5th grade teacher in the old liberty elementary building, and was the most memorable teacher I ever had. Even years after when he was at the library he remembered me and asked if I still was in contact with some of my friends. He's a wonderful person and will be missed by so many. Thanks for everything mr. Waters.

Oh how I loved this special man! He was my 4th and 5th grade teacher at Liberty Elementary school. He did everything he could to make learning fun for his students and allowed us to progress at our own speed. I would still see him occasionally at the library many years past my elementary years. He would always want to know how life was going and called me by name every time. He not only taught me academics and how to play a good game of dodge ball, but also the importance of believing in yourself.
May your family be blessed with sweet memories.
