Marjorie Alice Curtis Nordquist
1930 ~ 2015
South Jordan, Utah-Marjorie Alice Curtis Nordquist passed away Wednesday, November 25, in South Jordan, Utah.
Marje was born to R. Emerson and Alice Call Curtis on May 27, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT. She graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah. While at the U of U, she met and married Melvin C Paxton. They had five children, whom they raised in Monte Sereno, CA. Marje and Mel later divorced and Marje relocated to Provo, UT. While working at Brigham Young University in 1973, she met and married Edwin C. Nordquist, a widower with three grown children. She was devoted to him and often referred to him as "the love of my life." They lived in Salt Lake City.
Music was a talent she enjoyed and enthusiastically shared throughout her life, serving as the ward organist in various congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), of which she was a dedicated member. Snow skiing, square dancing, sewing, gardening, family history, and traveling around the country were all activities that made her happy. She loved being a wife and mother, and serving her family. She and Ed served three LDS missions.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents R. Emerson and Alice Curtis, husband Edwin C. Nordquist, son Michael J. Paxton, sister Patricia Curtis Blackham, brother Steven E. Curtis, and granddaughter Tiffany Brough.
She is survived by her children Robert (Judith) Paxton, Rodger (Theresa) Paxton, Cheri Paxton(Stan) Bell, daughter-in-law Kay (James) Stewart, step-children Janet (Marshall) Brough, Mary Jane (James) Wilson, and James (Erica) Nordquist; her sisters Carolee Curtis Green and Marian Curtis Kirkham; and step-brother Ernest Sunderland.
