I went to your grave this weekend and as I was on this site leaving yet another good bye for another. I found myself missing your friendship. I am sorry I did not do a spell check on the last comment I left when I first signed this book. I suppose many of us will always feel regret. You were such a smart man that was an inspiration to be around. I feel so honored to have been apart of your race team and to have spent so much time with you in 2006.
Still missing you, Regards,

Bill,
You are still always missed. Every time I hold a gun, every time I pull the throttle back on a bike, every time I am in thought, you still come in and talk to me.
We went to see you a while back and I hope you are at peace.
I'll be looking for you on the other side.
Your pal,
Cory

I guess I have been too far out of touch for far too long. I just found out today about Bill. There was a point in my life when Bill actually made it worth living. He would come and get me and MAKE me go out. He never allowed me to be sad. "Sadness gets in the way of livin" he would say. The years we hung out together were hard and fast and I loved each and every moment of it. I'm sad and broken hearted and yet at the same time I'm relieved for him because his journey is over in this world. I have no doubt that where ever Bill is, he has set the place on it's ear. Good-bye my dear. There will always be a place for you in my heart. You will be missed.

Dear Billy, my sweet William
It has been a whole month now since your passing. Each day I miss you more than the last. Contending with this overwhelming sadness is the most difficult challenge I have ever faced. Just as you wanted the hands of time to reverse their course forward, I also wish for that desperately. We were so good together, so very happy in our love.
All that keeps me sane is thinking you are keeping company with each great hero of your admiration, there in whatever spiritual realm you finally found.
Darling, I am lost without you. I miss you so...

Bill will be missed. He shared his knowledge of the gun business with many of us over the years. Most important, if he told you something, you knew that's how it was. You could trust him, and so often that's not the case in the business. I knew him for many years, and his passing was way too early for a man that was so passionate about life.

My dad was a fascinating man. He was the most fiercely independent and single-minded person I've ever known. Women were enchanted by him, and men wanted to be his friends.
He leaves behind many friends that have been close to him for decades, and I think that speaks a great deal about him.
His interest, loves, and talents were widespread and deep. He lived every day of his life the way he chose, pursuing his passions.
His influence still informs so much of my daily life; from my own interests, to the way I look at art, to the foods I enjoy, to large parts of my worldview. I think of him in many small ways throughout the day, and always have.
His loss leaves a much, much bigger void in my life than I knew it would. I miss my dad.

My father was an amazing man. He was many things to many people. Everyone who knew him received a unique and true friendship. He never showed all of his sides to any one person. And only allowed people to know what he chose. Whatever he was to you or however he touched your heart it is uniquely yours to be treasured.
My heart aches to hear him call me "his little ray of sunshine" again. He was always just "Daddy" to me and that was enough.

Long Shadows
In the still blue skies,
Where glorious heavens and earth meet
In the breathless air,
In the morn burdened with incense,
Among the rich shadows of a noon-day,
Among the long shadows of an evening,
Amidst the radiant clouds of the setting sun,
On the path on the waters at the close of the day,
There I will meet with my love.
I miss you

Bill Powell, 21st. century renaissance man & iconoclast, you were one of my dearest friends for 30 years. Your intelligence, erudition, wit, love of great books, art, music, spirits, machines and all-out joie de vivre made you one in a million. Your passing has left a void in my heart. I will always treasure our times together. Godspeed, Brother.

Wild Bill,
Where did the time go? As I write this, the pain fills my core and catches me off guard. You are by far one of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of being friends with. You shared so much and gave so much. You were a fatherfigure, friend, inspiration, mentor, source of knowledge, genius, role-model, life of the party, and overall great human being. We lost a true one-of-a-kind good guy. I close my eyes and see you in the next life providing entertainment and sharing stories to all that are around you. I hope that the last breath that you gave here was without pain and without suffering. You never did hesitate to give a fight and showed that right to the end. There's not many moments that go by that I don't reminisce on the good times and start feeling the pain. Solice is found in knowing that each moment we shared was great and I soaked up the time I had with you. My children and later ancestors will know and benefit from the knowledge that you so unselfishly shared. In your honor will I further travel down life's path in your shadow.
"And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping.
The moon tells me a secret. My confidant.
As full and bright as I am, this light is not my own
A million light reflections pass over me
It's source is bright and endless."
Catch you on the flip side....
Your pal forever,
Cory

Lower Left Corner:
To clarify my entry below. If you get time to ride out to the grave site, after the headstone is put in, check the GRASS below the lower left corner of the headstone for momentos left. We didn't want the original post to be confused with having anything to do with the headstone itself. We would not want that touched.

Bill Powell was a highly respected, intellgent, and adventurous man. He had pride and treated others with respect. Wild Bill treated women with respect and kindness. He was reliable and dependable. Fort Worth will never be the same with out him. Long Live Team Texas Rocket 2006! In Feb. 2006 we drove to Grapevine to see "Worlds Fatest Indian" and by August 2006 we traveled to Bonneville and as a team set the record for the fastest "Texas" Rocket. I had an amazing time with Bill riding his wild modern horses. We had a blast together in so many ways. My heart is broken, but my life has been deeply touched by this great man. Feel free to contact me [email protected]
I have so much that I want to share.
