Frances McDonald Obituary
Frances Lee McDonald passed to her eternal reward Friday, May 17, 2013, in Fort Worth Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at All Saints Anglican Church, 4629 Bryce Ave., Fort Worth, followed by a reception. Interment: She will be interred at a later date at Christ Episcopal in Temple. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Altar Guild of All Saints or to the Altrusa Foundation of Fort Worth, Box 471033, Fort Worth, Texas 76147. Frances Lee McDonald, the third and last child of James Jackson McDonald Sr. and Alice May Babcock McDonald, was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Temple. Fran, as she was known to all, lived a life of service and commitment to family, friends and causes she held dear. She was a 1948 graduate of Temple High School, followed by work at Mary Hardin Baylor and then obtaining a BA degree in 1952 from Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her business career began with work for radio station KRLD in Dallas. She subsequently worked for the Batten, Barton, Durstine, & Osborn advertising agency, the Texas Tuberculosis Association and was an associate member of the Crowder Davis & Company Insurance Agency. She devoted over 70 years of faithful service to the Episcopal Church in Temple, Dallas and Fort Worth. She spent 40 years with All Saints in Fort Worth, serving on the Altar Guild the entire time as well as being a member of the St. Ann's Guild and in support of St. Ann's Bookstore. She served many years with the Women of All Saints and she served as a member of the vestry. Her work for the church also included service to the diocese as a member of the Episcopal Church Women's Cabinet for nearly 15 years, serving variously as Western Deanery Representative, Diocesan Historian and Secretary. Fran also was a dedicated member of Altrusa International, having first joined the Temple club. She served as president of the Fort Worth club in 1980 and as District 9 Governor from 1988-1990. Her work for Altrusa never faltered and she was serving as parliamentarian for District 9 at the time of her passing. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who had the fortune to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James Jackson McDonald Jr. and Alice May McDonald McKenzie, and nephew, Donald M. McKenzie. Survivors: Nephews and their wives, Ronald M. McKenzie and wife, Susan, of Houston, Glen M. McKenzie Jr. of Spring Branch, Michael M. McKenzie and wife, Linda, of Hugo, Okla., and Donald McKenzie's wife, Marilyn Palmer McKenzie of San Antonio; grandnephews, Kevin M., Clinton M.M. and Clayton M. McKenzie of San Antonio, Cory M. McKenzie of Pataya, Thailand, and Kelly M. McKenzie of Denver, Colo.; and countless friends.
