Jim was a gift to us in the Heart of America Council, we enjoyed his leadership as well as his great people skills. I remember bumping into him once at the airport and was very impressed that he remembered my name. I know his family will miss him deeply. He was a great man and a friend to many.

Dear Anne:
Linda and I were very saddened by Jim's recent death and extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Jim befriended me when I joined the National Board approximately ten years ago and was a great mentor. He and I both shared a keen interest in financial information and statistics. He was a real gentleman. Even though he was younger than me he always reminded me of the character, wisdom and integrity of my grandfather.
There is little anyone can say or do at a time like this, but we wanted you to know that our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Warmest personal regards.

Jim Terry encouraged me in public speaking while I was a young man on staff at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. Today it is a skill that I use every day in my career. Thank you!

Anne - Jim was one of the kindest and most humble men I have ever known. Since the day we met at Johnston Gym on September 1, 1962- as wide-eyed freshmen at our beloved Davidson College - we have been members of the class of '66 - "Mean as hell, tough as bricks, we're the class of '66" While those words may apply to some of us, as you know better than anyone Jim had a more endearing quality - that of a soft spoken believer. From kicking 35 consecutive PAT's without a misfire (a record that stood at Davidson for almost 30 years, to serving as our class secretary for most of our 50 years since graduating, to working with young people in the Dean's office at with the BSA, to just "being there" for his family and friends- Jim embodied what Christ calls us to be - a true servant leader.
I shall miss him but hope that you, your children and the entire family, like me, will be comforted knowing he is with the Lord now and in no more pain. And the greatest gift of all -- the certain knowledge that we will all be reunited one day with Jim.
This world is a much better place for Jim's 72 years on it.
In His grip

My deep sympathies to Anne and the Terry and Hamilton families. Jim played hard every day on our Davidson baseball team, and showed the same dedication throughout his career. May fond memories comfort you in this time of sorrow.
