Gary, not sure if you will remember me but this is Bob (Bobby) Robinson from Gober. My brother Bill somehow ran across the obituary for AJ. Gary, I am so sorry to hear this most sad news. I know it was back in 2011. We lost a nephew in 2003 and it was very difficult. I have not seen you in a very long time. My folks still live in Gober and I live in Lubbock and my brother Bill lives in Grapevine. Bob Robinson

I always saw AJ with a big grin across his face. He lived life to the fullest! You can't help but smile thinking about him. I knew AJ through my brother, and had the priviledge of hanging out with him a few times. He was part of my 16th birthday party memories (even got the party going!) and a shared birthday dinner. AJ-you are loved and missed greatly!

Gary, Roxanne, Ashley, Jennifer, and the rest of the Mankin/Brown family members, Melton and I will always be here for you. We are only a phone call away. Aj was so special to us and we loved him very much. It absolutely meant the world to Melton when he was in the hospital this last time and AJ came to visit and check on him. Savannah thought the world of him. Cameron wanted to be just like him and worked so hard to make his Tahoe look good so AJ would be proud of him. They had a Tahoe bond! :) Melton and I both loved him and would proudly claim him as our own. AJ was a great person. He had a smile that could melt any heart, eyes that sparkled like a diamond and a charm that made ya just "love that boy"! Our hearts are broken, but we find peace knowing he is in a better place and is now our Guardian ANGEL watching over all of us. Please take care of yourselves and each other. AJ I never knew until now how much you affected my life. When I heard the news my heart sunk and even though it had been so long since we last talked I can still hear your voice and see your smile.I wonder how can it be that in an instant you were gone, I never even got to say good bye or reconnect with you. AJ, It seems like yesterday we were in St. Thomas sneeking down the hillside to pick up a milkshake loaded up with Kalua at the local dairy soaking up the sun without a care in the world. What a great trip! I will always cherish the great times we shared together. You are a great friend and will always have a special place in my heart. Heaven will be a a better place from now on!

To the Mankin family, his fiancee and daughter. I am truly sorry for your loss. I was devastated to hear this news. I went to school with AJ at GPHS. Although, I haven't seen him since then.
I remember you being always goofy and silly, the class clown. You were always trying to make light of all kinds of situations. I do also remember your mischievous smirks and grins, always smiling and laughing. This is so difficult to write. Just doesn't seem real. You should still be here, you were too young and full of life. I don't know how to describe my sympathy to you and your loved ones. I know you would want them/us to stay strong and go on and remember the good times, but it is so much easier said then done. Never easy to loose someone special and who was loved dearly.
I always says when this happens you now have an EXTRA SPECIAL angel looking after you, protecting you from harm, and surrounding you with his wings of love.
I will leave by saying rest in peace AJ and you will never be forgotten.
Stay strong Mankin family, he is looking down with his silly smirk and saying it will all be ok.

There are no words that could ever be spoken that will bring any relief from the pain your family is feeling with the loss of your precious AJ. Aj, you were as close to a brother as I could ever have had, and everything I could ever ask for in a best friend. It's funny.. I show the pix and videos as share the stories with everyone , and it's kind of normal for me. :) you were part of my daily life in some form or fashion.
