Douglas Anfin Obituary

Douglas Reed Anfin, 79, a loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his home. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in Greenwood Chapel. Reception to follow in the Live Oak Room. Douglas Reed Anfin was born in Omaha, Neb., on April 14, 1937. After settling in Dallas, he married Jeri McMillan. They eventually moved to Fort Worth to raise their four children. After serving in the Marines and working at Ford Motor Company, he began to work for Jax Distributing with his father-in-law, John V. McMillan. He later moved with him to Coors Distributing Company of Fort Worth, where he served as president until his retirement in the '90s. Doug always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. In his later years, he looked forward to spending time with his family and extended family, the Rio Grande Social Club. His favorite time of day was 5:30, when he would gather with his close friends for their daily happy hour. The family would like to thank the Benbrook Police and Fire Department for their kindness and service. We would also like to thank Aaron Walters for his actions on Saturday night and his continued support. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Reed Anfin and Helen Sutton Anfin; and sister, Sandra Anfin Albers. Survivors: Beloved pet, Pepper; sons, Randy Anfin and wife, Susie, Danny Anfin, Tim Anfin and wife, Karen, Larry Anfin and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Ashley, RJ, Allison, Eric, Elizabeth, David, Sara and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Mia; and Rio Grande Social Club/extended family, Craig and Leta Graham, Harlon and Sara Looper, David and Karen Laboon.

Every morning for many many years, Doug would step into the office where I worked. Always with a big smile and say "Good Morning kid".
We would talk for a while, mostly about the goings on for the day or maybe about the weather. The conversation was always upbeat and a kick-starter for the day. Then upon leaving he would say " Stay out of trouble, kid".
Kind, big hearted, and a caring family man.. That is the Doug I know.
Prayers and thoughts to you in this most difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Anfin family. We thought the world of your family, especially my dad (Wes), and we were always excited to see your family at the rodeo, and the Coors Christmas party's. Your dad was always smiling and laughing, and I know he will be truly missed by all. Take care and GOD bless.
