I am so sorry to have just learned of Dave's passing. I am not surprised by everything he did/accomplished later in life. I have such fond memories of working for him while at the Jai-Lai. He was so compassionate and generous then, it's no wonder he carried those qualities into his political activism. Heaven has certainly gained an angel. Thoughts and prayers to you, Sherrie & family.

Through effort and sheer tenacity, Dave made himself indispensable to progress of progressive politics in central Ohio. I will always remember him "covering my back" during my sit-down against the rally against healthcare reform. I still wear the Cornell hat he gave me. In my view, Dave could still help Obama... I turn green and purple when I think of the photo of Dave and Obama in the Oval Office. Yet he remained a nice guy through it all. Dave, you will be missed.

A rare combination of business savvy and unwavering humanity. Dave Girves kept many elderly and mentally challenged people on the Jai Lai payroll over the years; people most employers would have kicked to the curb or never hired. He found a way to work them into the system and give them dignity and a paycheck. Genuine heart and soul. I will always love and respect Dave.

Dave was always there with a smile, a purpose and faith that he was helping others. He was unique, genuine and made a difference to many people. He will be missed by many but his impact will be remembered by many years into the future. May his family take comfort in his memory and his impact on others.
