Richard Robinson Obituary

ROBINSON Richard "Rick" Wayne Robinson, born October 26, 1968, passed away April 10, 2010 at his home at the age of 41. He attended East High School where he met his lifelong sweetheart, married for 21 years, Barb. Rick was an eager, hardworking soul that strived for nothing but the best, and accepted nothing less, and that's the life he provided for his wife, Barb, and his two children, Morgan Marie (16), and Dereck Wayne (10). With devotion, soaring ambitions, and endless pride in his work for OSU, Rick was respected to infinite limits, and had an interminable devotion for his career, and for the Buckeyes. His heart only matched these feelings for his family, where he was unquestionably the most brilliant, compassionate, courageous, and protecting individual his wife and kids had ever dreamed of. He will remain the inspiration to live life with the utmost enthusiasm and integrity. Rick enjoyed sports, especially football, working out, spending time with his family, and coaching his sons little league football team, the Vikings. He was a very devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his father John Robinson, grandmother Mary Gainer, grandfathers Russell Robinson, and Arthur Gainer, siblings Mary and Chuck Robinson. In addition to his wife and kids, survivors include his mother and step-father, Linda and Jeff Heskett; grandmother, Margie Robinson; sister, Lena (Jimmy) Ritchie; brothers, John (Sheila), Roger, and Patrick (Christina) Robinson. Friends may call Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Michael Harding officiating. Contributions in Rick's honor may be made payable to 5/3rd Bank for Morgan and Derecks College Fund. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Rick. "Who do you loveee?" "Daddy!". Stay Gold Dad!

With what would have been your 44th birthday coming soon, it serves as a reminder as to how perplexing time is and it's not as cogent as we want it to be. Throughout the course of your life, you left such a legacy behind that continues to inspire and edify mine - and it only persists. I think of you every single day and try to live life as if you were still here with me today. There are no words that can explain how much you mean to me and how much I love and respect you. You have always and will always mean the absolute world to me.
Love you always Dad, xoxo

Padre,
It’s still not really sinking in that you’re not physically with Mom, Dereck and I every day. I still sometimes have this urge to ask mom when you’re coming home from work. But, I still feel like you’re with us, and I’ll always feel that way. Like, if mom mispronounces a word, it’s still like you and I are the first ones to laugh and make fun of her while Dereck sucks-up to her. I miss you telling me to wash the dishes, weird right? I miss you saying “Good night … love you, don’t forget to brush your teeth.” But it really nothing has to be said aloud, we know.

I remember my birthday, you surprised me at the Cheeseburger Paradise place with that chocolate cake that tasted like heaven in your mouth, and the chocolate covered chips with sprinkles and strawberries. And we cried on the way home because of poor Chris, which just made us all feel awful. But when we got home you gave me like five birthday cards, and you just always wrote the best birthday messages ever. You told me to Stay Gold.
I’ll never forget you taking me to the Blink-182 concert on August 13th in Cincinnati. My MapQuest directions ended up being the “scenic route”, you complained about it, but secretly I think you loved it. We had our beef jerky, red bull, and peanuts, we were definitely ready for that concert. Then we had those crazy young kids sitting in front of us. I remember that one drunk guy was joking around giving everyone high-fives and you said you like, smacked his hand. And on the way home, there was nothing but the smell of cow poop passing all those fields of corn. That was good though I guess, because we had a long day, and you said it would keep you up while you were driving.

You’ve made it a long way Dad. You’re inspiration is going to lead me down the rest of my life. You’re motivation, knowledge, love and compassion that you shared with me and to everyone definitely makes you the remarkable person we all know and love. It’s unfortunate for people in your family, to not have any idea about the accomplishments that you’ve made. It’s also unfortunate instead of bragging about your endless endeavors, people would rather say “he must’ve had some kind of problem”. To any person that thinks this needs to take a look back and ask themselves if they were there with you every day, to know you for who you are, what you cared about, and how much of great person you were; rather than focus on a chemically imbalanced/alcohol mind-set that lasted a few seconds and was a total tragedy. You didn’t mean it.

I know that you’ve left a legacy behind Dad, there’s no doubt about it. I’m going to feel so honored to work at OSU with all the people you came home complimenting, and appreciating, telling us all the good stories about the good, reliable, diligent individuals you know and have the pleasure of working with, and they made you love your job. When I go to Gowdy, I’ll be reminding of everything you’ve done there and how you’ve made such an impact on other peoples’ lives. Because we all know you “were a pretty big deal at the Medical Center”.

Obviously when I work there I’ll probably be a big deal too, cause we’re pretty much two peas in a pod. They’ll love me so much, but I’ll be modest about it. Can’t wait to blast that OSU music when Mom’s driving me down there. They may have lost Rick Robinson, but they have the next best thing, me. Maybe someday, I’ll get that special access card that “not a lot of people have. But since I’m so important …”. This will all be for you.

You were surrounded by the best people, and in time you’re “family” (Everyone from OSU and the people you worked with, the Belmonte’s, Jeff Myers and his family, Scott Monk and his family, Steve Prose, Chad Neal, Dave Bundy) really was there for us, when we thought we had hardly anybody. Good people surround themselves with good people. Thanks for being such a talker and bringing these people into our lives.

To the most hardworking, passionate, triumphant, devoted, considerate, adoring father anyone could have. Not to mention good looking, come on Dad, you’re a fox. I think it’s the hair, got to love that Aqua-Net & Rave. “I am the mannnn. Please, do you think anyone can compete with this? *points to the hair* “

I love you more than anything and I know you’ll be keeping an eye out for Mom, Dereck and I especially.

April 15, 2010

You had to love Rick the moment you met him. Who else have you ever known that would offer his friendship so willingly and ask nothing in return? His impeccable humanity and life led with intent caused those around him to be in the moment. To live with purpose. To be and look and do your best….because you can! And to have a good time as you go because that’s the way it should be.

He touched so many lives. He changed so many people with his smile and his excitement.
He was and I think will always be, one of the bright lights for me. I will always miss him and I will always remember him and the values he stood for.
I send love and my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

April 15, 2010

I have many memories of growing up with Rick. I remember the many times I watched my Aunt and Uncle coaching the baseball team that Rick, Chuckie, Chris Eames, Greg Belmonte, Tim Rose and several others were playing on for Gladdens when they were about 12 or 13. I recall many fond memories of growing up in the bottoms with Rick and going through school with him too. Rick was always so optimistic and had a great outlook on life. He always had a smile that would light up the room. I am so honored to have known him and with the many memories I have in my heart he will never be forgotten.

To the entire Robinson Family- I send my deepest sympathies to you. May your memories bring you comfort during this time. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My condolences are with you as you grieve.
