SMITH William Jerome Smith. This updated version of the obituary of William J. Smith has been submitted on his 92nd birthday in loving memory by his daughter Mitzie L. Smith Craddock. William Jerome Smith, age 91, of Worthington, Oh., died February 23, 2008, at Wesley Glen Retirement Center. Born September 21, 1916, in Columbus, Oh., to the late Frank P. Smith, Sr. and Carrie Mae Heffner Smith. William has gone to be reunited with his wife of 46 years, Mary Virginia Thomas Smith, who preceded him in death on October 5, 1985 and his youngest daughter Mary Virginia Smith Ey who preceded him in death on January 31, 2008, as well as with his brothers Edwin H., Arthur F., Russell F., Sr., Frank P., Jr., Jack B., Robert K., wives of four of the brothers and his great-grandson Lane Michael Craddock. Survived by daughter and her husband, Mitzie Lynn and J. Roger Craddock of Kingwood, Tex.; son-in-law, Thomas J. Ey of Columbus, Oh.; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Wanda M. Smith. He was a graduate of Ohio State University, Class of 1939. A lieutenant (JG) in the U.S. Navy. Served as the executive officer aboard patrol craft 476 in the Philippine Sea Frontier during WW II. Retired from Defense Construction Supply Center after 25 years of service. Member of Worthington United Methodist Church, Worthington Lions Club, New England Lodge No. 4, F&AM, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine and the Legion of Honor Unit. Visitation was at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME in Worthington, Ohio. Service was at Worthington United Methodist Church. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
