Casey was a wonderful neighbor and human being. We always swapped his fish for my homemade banana bread! We moved away when our girls were babies, but after deciding to move back to this same neighborhood myself with my now-teenage daughters, Stefanie and Carlie, the Fredericks were still consistent, supportive, and were even references again for me at OSUMC. Everyone who knows Casey always speaks of his generous and giving spirit. I am so delighted that my daughters had the opportunity to spend time with him again. I am honored to have known Casey, and our sincerest condolences are wished to Bonnie and family...

I just found out about Casey's death and want to express my condolences. I had the privilege of serving as a wrestling manager from 1955-58 and enjoyed those years at Ohio State with Casey as a mentor. He was kind enough to write a recommendation to help me get into law school at The University of Michigan. God Bless him!

Dear Fredericks Family,
Prayers and thoughts are with you.
Although I had only met Casey on occasion, I heard his nsme frequently. My father, Frank Hrabley, was quite fond of Casey. They first connected at StMichael's Church where my dad had ushered many years, and was involved with an informal 'lunch bunch'. Catholic War Veterens, parish festivals and other related times where they might have worked together. Casey was one person who helped my father through grieving my mother. I am so grateful for Casey's presence in my father's life.

As a former Penn State wrestler, I knew well about the trio of wrestling coaches, "Doc" Speidel(Penn State), Rex Perry (Pitt) and Casey (OSU). They were great sportsmen, gentlemen, and mentors of young athletes.
God grant him rest.

Dear Family,
My brother, Doug, and I lived next to Casey and Bonnie on Foster Avenue. We enjoyed many fish fries with Casey! He always had a smile on his face and was quick to tell a good story. We were all lucky to have known Casey.
Sincerely,

Casey was always such a bright spot in my life while working as part of the staff in the School of HPER at The Ohio State University. He would brighten our offices when he came to visit. While I never participated in any of his ice fishing courses, the staff always enjoyed being treated to his fish fries. In my book, he was one of the good ones. I feel fortunate to have had him cross my path.

Casey was the caddymaster when I was an 11-year-old young caddy at the OSU golf course in the early 1960s, and I just wanted to pass on all these years later how much I appreciated - and still appreciate - his kindness, good humor and strength of character at the time.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Fredricks, Gail and Dave. He was not only "another father" a scout leader and my confirmation sponsor, he was the nicest man in the world to me a a great friend to my family. He was one of the pillars of St. Michael's church and school. He understood that compassion and discipine were both essential to personal development. His contributions to Ohio State and the community are too numerous to mention. I know the family as well as the community will miss this great man.

It was always a pleasure spending time with Casey. On his visits to our school he not only took care of ordering our wrestling mats but spent time talking about wrestling and his fishing trips with students and teachers. If Casey met you once, he always remembered you and always cared about how you and your family were doing. He will be missed! Doug Short-Marion

Casey was a good man.
His main "misson statement" in 1958 was "In Ohio ,every high school that
has a football team should/will have a wrestling team".
He worked hard for that goal and look how it has come close to being obtained.
Casey helped me choose coaching wrestling for a career, encouraged me to achieve and was part of the years I had coaching young men (forty years as a head coach and eight as an assistant).
I salute Casey Fredericks and thank him for his "mark " that he made on many of us.
Thanks Case and God Bless You.
Your friend.

Casey was one of my favorite teachers at OSU in the 60's. Always happy, always polite, always positive. I felt good being around him. Truely his life had meaning. You knew he loved teaching, loved wrestling. But most of all he loved people. God Bless you Casey. You will be missed.

It was with great sorrow I heard about the passing of Casey. You have my deepest sympathy, but I know now he's with my mom and dad in heaven and my dad has his fishing buddy beside him. To Mrs. Bonnie Fredericks,
It is with extreme sadness we heard of Casey's passing. I do not have to tell you how much he has influenced my life. I could write pages about what he meant to me and how much he taught me about life in general. The wrestling part was important, and he did well in that category, but his impact was significant on and off the mats. He was a true gentlemen who educated us about how to live a good life, and the importance of our faith, our family and our friends.
He was a wonderful role model and he gave so many of us proper direction when, at a time in our lives, it was so dearly needed. Casey was a positive person, even tempered, always showing the sportsmanship side of his demeanor, and seldom if ever did we hear a curse word uttered from his lips.
Going first class was an important aspect of his teaching, he often said "it only costs a few more cents". In other words try to carry yourself with dignity and honor; be kind to others even when they do not necessarily respond in kind; don't forget to give back; remember those who helped you get to the next level; and expressing your thanks should be said often.
He cared deeply that we worked hard to obtain our degrees and spoke repeatedly about the tremendous value of the education we were getting from Ohio State. Paraphrasing his words, he felt strongly that the education we acquired would help elevate us to the highest level in life we wished to personally pursue; that it would open doors and would provide us the opportunity for achievement and success; and that it would give us the where-with-all to establish an economic base to provide the best possible life for our families.
I will miss him, however his spirit will live within me the rest of my life. He lived the good life. His life is a torch, for the many of us fortunate to have had him touch our lives, that will shine brightly forever.
He was a very good man who married well and raised a wonderful family.
Our love to you during, this time and always.

Dear Mrs. Fredericks,
I am so sorry to see your wonderful husband Casey has left this world. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Because of your generosity and energy I have many very happy memories as a girl scout with you as my Girl Scout Troop Leader. Your husband Casey was always so cheerful and friendly. You two were the best example of a happily married couple, that I had. Your contribution to helping us girls grow into women cannot be underestimated. Thank you so much!
I hope to see you Friday PM at Novak. You and Casey and Mary will always be in my prayers.
Sincerely,

Casey was just a great person, very caring of others. He would do absolutely anything he could to help someone. He made a huge difference in my life, and I'm sure the lives of many. I have so many fond memories, and I am especially appreciative that I had the opportunity to spend time with him recently. I will miss his pleasant, respectful demeanor and funny quips. RIP coach, you should be proud. You touched the lives of many, lived a full life, and can now enjoy your much deserved place in heaven.
