Thomas Ivie Obituary
Thomas Eugene Ivie, age 72 of Murfreesboro, passed away on October 12, 2011 at Creekside Assisted Living.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County. Thomas served in the U.S. Army and retired from General Electric. He was a member of the Open Word Tabernacle Church.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary Ivie.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Mosley Ivie of Murfreesboro; daughters, Janice Vaughn of Murfreesboro and Teresa Danford of Woodbury; brothers, William (Julie) Ivie of Murfreesboro and JT (Robbie) Ivie of Alabama; sister, Annie Pearl Robinson of Readyville; grandchildren, Anthony (Kim) Patterson, Jeffery (Brandi) Lewis, LCpl. Philip Mark Rhyne, Tracy Wallace and Kristen (Josh) McDowell; and nine great-grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow at Trimble Cemetery, with family and friends serving as Active Pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home, 820 South Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130; (615) 893-2422. Dearest papa,
You became my papa by choice ,though the same blood does not run through our veins, you are my daddy. I watched you be the kind of man that seldom exist any longer. Your word was your bond, though you were a quiet man you set an example for us in the way you lived your life. Giving respect to all you met. You stood for me in so many ways throughout my life even though at times I didn't deserve your loyalty you were there for me. I will miss you always. I love you .....TD
