Martha Julia McFarlin
Martha Julia McFarlin, age 88, affectionately known as "Aunt Martha," passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
A native of the Kittrell community, she was the daughter of the late Julian Dexter and Martha Lowe Hall McFarlin. She was also preceded in death by her brother, the late Judge Ben Hall McFarlin, Sr., and a sister-in-law, the late Gene Marie Black McFarlin.
Miss McFarlin is survived by her nieces and nephews, Angie McFarlin Kleinau of Murfreesboro, TN and her late husband Dick Kleinau, Benita McFarlin Lane and her husband, Joe P. Lane of Carthage, TN, Judge Ben Hall McFarlin, Jr. and his wife Brenda McFarlin of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ginger McFarlin Lowery of Murfreesboro, TN, and her late husband, Jerry O'Neal Lowery, Sr.; great nieces and nephews, Carrie Goodwin and her husband Robert of Chattanooga, TN, Genie Carr and her husband Marc of Peachtree City, GA, Patton Lane of Murfreesboro, TN, Alan Lane and his wife Angela of Carthage, TN, Brian Lane and his wife Jennifer of Murfreesboro, TN, Trey McFarlin and his wife Sarah of Murfreesboro, TN, Dr. Elizabeth McFarlin-Coe and her husband Trevor of Brentwood, TN, Jerry O'Neal Lowery, Jr. of Nashville, TN, and Virginia Marie Lowery of Murfreesboro, TN; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Brother Wayne Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, with Judge Ben Hall McFarlin, Jr., Joe P. Lane, Patton Lane, Alan Lane, Brian Lane, Trey McFarlin, Jerry O'Neal Lowery, Jr., Bobby Francis, Bill Corter, and Dalton McCrary serving as Pallbearers.
Miss McFarlin was a member of the East Main Street Church of Christ, the Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter of the DAR, and the American Business Women's Association, where she received the Woman of the Year Award in 1976-1977.
Miss McFarlin was a 1946 graduate of Kittrell High School, and the former office manager of McFarlin Farm Implement Company. She later retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles as a Document Clerk. There is nothing Martha loved more than her family and precious friends. She spent her entire life devoted to those she loved, and we will forever be blessed by "Aunt Martha" being in our lives.
Memorials may be made to Special Kids or to the East Main Street Church of Christ in memory of Miss McFarlin.
