Fred J. Gavello Jr.
July 13, 1935-July 22, 2012
Resident of Castro Valley
Fred J. Gavello Jr. passed away Sunday July 22, 2012 in Castro Valley after a courageous battle with cancer. He was passionate about family and enjoyed spending time in the Yosemite Mountains. Fred graduated from Hayward High School and served in the United States Coast Guard. Fred then proudly followed in the footsteps of his father and worked for Oakland Scavenger for 37 years. Some of his fondest memories were of coaching baseball for his sons and their teammates. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Peggy; their sons Tom (and his wife Jamie) of Danville and Tim (and his wife Beth) of San Jose and six grandchildren, Riley, Rachelle, Joseph, Thomas, Victoria, and Anthony. He is also survived by his aunt, Pierina Pertino of Fremont. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara as well as his brother Joseph. In honor of his request, services are private. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
