David OXLEY Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Feb. 3, 2015.
OXLEY, David William
July 26, 1932 – January 31, 2015
It is with great sadness and grieving hearts, we announce the passing of my darling Husband, David, our beloved Father, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, at the age of 82 years.
David and Joyce were married 53 years ago on May 20, 1961. They had two beautiful children, the light of their lives, Cheryl Dawn (Clay Lloyd) and Kevin David (Lara Wells); surrogate children, Ruby and Alan Lund; seven precious grandchildren, Andrew, Cody, Shayla (Corrigan), Kaitlin, Rychelle, Cheryce and Colton; and two dear great-grandchildren, Rhylan and Adalyne; also survived by many loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence; his mother, Marjorie; and sister, Barbara; also by his mother and father-in-law, Mabel and Gunard Barlund; three brothers-in-law, Len, Wilfred and Esten; two sisters-in-law, Adeline and Ilene; and two nephews, Mervyn and Barry.
David came to Edmonton from his birthplace, Vancouver, BC, in 1959, transferring from CP Airlines to PWA, here in Edmonton. His love of airplanes was so great, having worked for PWA, Canadian, Air Canada and Northwest Territorial over a period of close to 30 years. Many stories he would love to tell us all, about his many interesting years in the airline industry.
A Celebration of David's Life will be held Thursday, February 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton with Pastor Doug Hale officiating. Cremation has taken place. No flowers please. Donations would be gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut, 10985 - 124 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 0H9, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #202, 11227 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5K 0L5 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #100, 12220 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, AB T5N 3Y4.

To my DARLING DAVID, my loving husband, best friend, and love of my life!! I cannot believe it is two weeks this morning, since the dear Lord called you to your Heavenly Home, bringing you peace, joy, and took ALL of your horrendous pain away. We ALL miss you so very, very much...our children are all devastated, too, but are trying so hard to carry on, and are SO loving and carrying to their Mom!! Today is Valentine's Day, and I have written on the card I got for you before you went to the hospital, and set it beside you (our Treasure Chest)and also brought out last year's Valentine card you gave your "WIFE!" and set it beside it. You are in all of our hears forever, and we all send you soooo much LOVE, HUGS and KISSES!! LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH< MY DARLING.....Until we meet again, and we will all be together. All my love, your wifeeee, Joyce XXXXOOOO

Dad...God I miss you so much! You are my very best friend( I said "are" because I know you are still with us) We shared everything together, did everything together, had the exact same interests and hobbies. We have the exact sense of humour! We sure had a lot of fun! Loved our trips too BC. We rented conferrable sports cars and cruised his old stomping grounds! If you ever want too see part of my dad, just come see me! We are two peas in the same pod! I have his blood and all of his personality! I will miss seeing my Dad immensely until the day I die, then we will be together again for ever!
