Evelyn Jarvis

JARVIS, Evelyn Evelyn Jarvis (nee Arndt) died on October 15, 2010 in the kind care of St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, Edmonton, AB at 89 years. Evelyn was born June 29, 1921 in Lethbridge, grew up outside of Rocky Mountain House, lived in Camrose and Red Deer before moving to Edmonton in the early fifties with her husband Frank and their growing family. She is survived by her loving family; son Barry Jarvis (Donna) of Grand Forks, BC, her daughters Peggy Robertson (Mark) of Edmonton and Wendy Jarvis of Toronto, and her son-in-law Barry Tomalty (Sheila) of Edmonton. Ev's grandchildren, Craig (Susan), Kim, Brianna, Jennifer (Darrin), Lindi (Rob), Roberta and Jillian will miss her tremendously and are grateful for her wonderful influence in their lives. Her great-grandchildren (Alexa, Riley, Natalie, Megan, Sophia, Kieran, Liah and Annika) were endless sources of pride and joy for her. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1970 and her daughter Carroll Tomalty (Barry) in 2002. Ev was the second eldest of ten daughters in her family and is survived by sisters Ruth, Betty, Marie, Edith, Gwen, and Shirley as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Helen, Lillian and Arlene. Evelyn's career of more than 25 years with Sears Canada reflected her commitment to fashion and style, and to a job well done. Evelyn's 21 years as a resident of the Greater Edmonton Foundation's Pleasantview Place were among her happiest. She made many wonderful friends there, and enjoyed volunteering for various activities whenever she was able.
