Tom, was one my supervisors from 1979-1983 at Control Data Corp.. One Friday he put his car in the shop and I volunteered to give him a ride. He and I worked on a computer problem all night long at White Sands Missile Range LBJSC. Dinner that night was a Snickers bar from a vending machine. We worked until 5:30 AM. We were both tired and cranky. We became angry and argued numerous times that night. We each felt the other was unable to see our own view point. I drove Tom home then had a 40 minute drive to my home. I decided Tom did not care about anyone but himself. Half way home I pulled over and took a nap in the car. When I got home the phone was ringing, it was Tom making sure I made it home safely. While I was sleeping in the car he was awake calling repeatedly worried about me. I was so touched by that act of love I decided I would never judge another person that harshly again. I carried that lesson with me since. "Yet those who journey in the garden land of knowledge, because they see the end in the beginning, see peace in war and friendliness in anger." (The Seven Valleys and the Four Valleys). May God give Tom a shiny refurbished Ford pickup (metaphor) to carry him on his spiritual journey.

Tom was not just a great person to work with, he was someone you could truly call a good friend, partner, buddy, confidant. I could depend on Tom for advise, support and strength to meet any challenge that came my way. I knew as soon as Tom walked in the door or got that call from him that everything was going to be alright. I will always keep you in my heart Thomas

My heart goes out to all of you right now. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow. I've been reflecting on so many memories of my Uncle Tom and these memories brought a smile to my face. He was very colorful and his accent only added to his charm. Big hugs to all of you.

Love,

Mr. Ryals,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
