Joyce Brink Obituary

Joyce M. Brink, 53, of Girard, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at her home. She was born in Ft. Knox, Ky., a daughter of the late Logan E. and Lucy Huggler Brink. Joyce graduated from the Ridgway Area High School in 1975. She then attended and graduated from the PA Dallas College Misericordia where she studied culinary arts. She later attended Gannon University where she received her Registered Nurses Degree in 1996. Joyce began her career as a nurse at St. Vincent Health Center and had worked there since. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, where she was active in the church choir. She also enjoyed sewing and playing the guitar and her beloved dog, Skoshie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Col. Thomas L. Brink. She is survived by two brothers, James A. Brink of Erie and Timothy J. Brink and his wife, Tammie of Fairview; her niece, Mary Lee Brink-Fliss and her husband, Zac of San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Thomas L. Brink Jr. and his wife, Leslie of York, Pa., Brian J. Brink and his wife, Katherine of Harrisburg, David Brink of Houston, Texas, Michael J. Brink of Erie, T.J. Brink II and Ryan Brink, both of Fairview. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Joyce and I were friends in high school from seventh grade to graduation. Haven't had much contact with her over the last few years but my memories of her in school will be with me forever. My condolences to her family and friends.

Joyce brought compassion to her family, both far and near. Her love for her family was widely known. She had a strong interest in pictures and photography and used that to maintain the Huggler Family's reunion photo album in her later years. She will be missed by many.
