Edward W. Messmer

Edward W. Messmer, age 85, passed away Saturday April 17, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on August 4, 1924, the son of the late Rudolph and Mildred Brown Messmer. Edward was a 1942 graduate of East High School and from 1942-1946 had served with the US Navy during WW II. He was founder and co-owner of Telephone & Electronics Corp. (TEI). His entire career was in the communications industry retiring in 1986. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Messmer and three sisters, Rosemary Groholski, Dolores Robinson, and Elizabeth Ann Veith. Edward is survived by several nieces and nephews and his dear friend of many years, Evelyn Vieira. Private Funeral Services were handled by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. with entombment in Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 West 7th St., Erie, PA 16502 or to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
