Robert Glowacki Obituary


Robert Glowacki, 96, a lifelong resident of Erie, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Saint Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge. He was born in Erie, July 7, 1917, son of the late Edward and Anastasia "Nettie" Lewandowski Glowacki. He was a member of Saint Peter Cathedral Parish.

He attended East High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard the USS American Legion. His company, the Robert Glowacki Agency, now a part of Glowacki Management Company, has served the Erie community for over 63 years. Bob served on the Erie City Council for 12 years, and was a former board member of the Erie Redevelopment Authority, the former Union Bank of Erie, and the Greater Erie Board of REALTORS. Always a gentleman, Bob was a consummate businessman and a man of integrity. He and his late wife Stella enjoyed years of ballroom dancing, at Rainbow Gardens, and other social events.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Plonski Glowacki, to whom he was married 76 years; a son, Brian Glowacki; and his brother, Joseph Glowacki.

Survivors include his children Roberta Palmisano, husband Michael, and Robert E. Glowacki, wife Mary Alice. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth and Joseph Glowacki; Amy Schonhoff, husband Christopher, Sara Erhartic, husband Steven, and Bridget Shames, husband Garrett. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Melissa, and Lillian Schonhoff, Andrew, Moira and Nicholas Erhartic, and Isabelle and Vivian Shames.

A private funeral Mass was held at Saint Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge Chapel, with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard.
