Rita A. Bachmaier Windsor

Rita Anne Bachmaier Windsor, age 81, formerly of Fairview Township, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Pleasant Ridge Manor, after nearly a twenty-year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Erie, on July 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia "Marie" Kellogg Bachmaier.

She was employed at the Northwestern School District, Hughson Chemical (Lord Corp.), Automation Devices, and retired from the Erie County Office of Children and Youth Services.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Elks Lodge, and the Siebenbuerger Club. Rita enjoyed reading, baking, movies, history, and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence "Larry" Windsor in 2011, one daughter Susan Martin, a son-in-law Paul Martin, one sister Louise Bachmaier and one brother-in-law Greg Huster.

She is survived by one son Mark Christ, two daughters Kathy Yanoshik (Jake), Beth Hancox (Chuck), adopted daughter Doreen Strait, one sister Maryanne Huster, one brother Richard Bachmaier (Cindy) and three grandchildren Jessica Henderson, Jason Pittsenbarger, and Katie Hancox, and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4 p.m. until time of service there at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. of Olives Cemetery, 9367 Wattsburg Road, on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1600 Peninsula Drive, Suite 15, Erie, PA 16505, or to the Humane Society of Northwestern, PA, 2407 Zimmerly Road, Erie, PA 16506.
