William Oaster Obituary

HANOVER William E. Oaster, 74, fought and lost his coura geous battle on Sunday evening, September 28, 2008, at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Patricia (Strausbaugh) Oaster, to whom he was married 53 years. Born September 8, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Catherine R. (Little) Oaster of New Oxford and the late Raymond F. Oaster. William retired in 1995 after 42 years of service with the Western Maryland and CSX Railroads. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Randy Oaster and wife, Lisa and William J. Oaster and his wife, Rebecca, all of Glenville; four daughters, Barbara Edsall and husband, Dana of Spring Grove, Cinthia Shrader of Hanover, Patrice DeGroft and husband, Brian of New Oxford and Lori McIntire and husband, Dave of Hanover; two brothers, Thomas Oaster and wife, Janine of Spring Grove and Kenneth Oaster of Hanover; a sister, Sallie Cook and husband, Clair of Irishtown; and twelve very loving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Shrader. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with Pastor Brad Dayett, of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stoverstown, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Thomas Oaster, Kenneth Oaster, Brett Edsall, Dana Edsall, Brian DeGroft and Dave McIntire. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Oaster, Garrett Oaster and Tyler Stansell. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of William to VNA/Hospice, 440 N. Madison St. Hanover, PA 17331.

Dad,

I can't believe you're gone! I thank you for all you have done for me and the family. Amber will miss her papaw and Dani will miss her pappy. You were such a great influence on them. It's only fitting now that you become their guardian angel. I know you'll be watching over all of us.
