I was so saddened to hear of Jim's passing. He was such a wonderful person with a positive attitude and infectious smile, He made an impression on everyone he met.
I first met Jim when I was a teenager and he came into my life when I needed someone like him. For many years he was like a father I didn't have.
To his wife and family, you are in my prayers and may God guide you through this difficult period and know you will see him again. Everyone who had the opportunity to meet and know Jim were truly blessed.

I wish to extend to, the Crawford family, my deepest condolences.
I met Satch in early 1972 when I started working for the City. Thought he was a great guy.
Over the years we would cross paths. As the time passed, and through work more often than both may have cared to count.
After we both retired I would keep up on him and how things were going from your neighbor Mike.
May God bless.

To the Crawford Family: I'm so blessed to have met Cousin James at the family reunion in Detroit, Michigan. He was such a nice person. At the time my father was in the hospital battling cancer. To this day I've never forgotten his words of encouragement because I was having a really hard time coping. You all are in my prayers and if there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to call. Sorry I couldn't be there today with my aunts, Cynthia & Petie to extend my condolences for such a well respected man.

One of the best times that I remember is when "Satch" would bring in his chocolate chip cookies. I always suspected he might have misrepresented who really made them, but they were delicious. :) He was a great man, with a wonderful heart. I will always remember his infectious smile and laugh. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Althought it's been many many years, I
can't help but remember your great
spirit of encouragement and kindness
to me as a 11 year old boy. I was
so awed and proud of you going from
work at the YMCA as a towelman to
detective at the Fort Wayne Police
Department. My prayers are with
your family and may you have found
peace with God.

My deepest sympathy. I met Satch in 1979 when I went to work for the FWPD, and while I didn't get to see him as much as some of the officers he was my friend. The world seems a little more empty for his loss.

We will truly miss Satch. I worked with him for years at the ACPAO. We became good friends. I use to sew his buttons on his jacket when they were loose. We (Tom & I )visited him in the hospital when he had surgery. We were the ones who brought him a fruit basket. Maybe, that will help you remember who we are. He was a good person and friend. He touched our hearts and will be soarly missed. I know he is truly in a better place. I just hated to hear the news he was gone. I am selfish that way.
Rosalie the last time I saw you was at Lindenwood Cemetery . When Jim and you where putting flowers on your Parents Grave.
I know this is a very diffcult time for the whole family. Take care and God bless.
Tom and I really loved Jim. I just wanted you to know how much he was cared for by so many people.

To the family of Mr. Crawford (Satch), I wish to extend to you
my deepest condolences in your great loss. I met Mr. Crawford during the summer of 1965 at the downtown YMCA. My brothers and I were members and Mr. Craw-
ford worked there part time in the evenings in the equipment
room. To this day Satch honestly remains one of the kindest
and gentler persons I have ever met! I will never forget the day when our boxing trainer couldn't make it in and Satch
stepped in and not only trained us but he encouraged us
to get ahead in life. I can still remember walking out of
that building asking myself, "How can someone that nice
turn into a brute showing you how to punch a heavy bag
and throw punches!!? May the good Lord bless you with his peace and strength is my prayer.

Crawford Family:
May God turn your sadness and tears into smiles and laughs - all in due time. Satch was welcomed presence at accident and illness scenes. I will remember him as the "gentle giant" that always seemed to show up to help, even if we didn't call. He was a great friend while I was on the streets with EMS and later while I was in 911 Communications. Jim is now at peace and at home. God bless you all.

May the Peace of Christ be with the Crawford family! We know that our "Friend" is in the arms of the Lord. His big smile will be missed. The love for his fellow man will always be remembered. The "Thin Blue Line" just got a little thinner. He was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with. Dennis L. Schebig (New Haven, IN)
