Carol A. Bonanno

HAMPSTEAD, N.H. - Carol Ann Bonanno, 70, of Hampstead, N.H., passed away peacefully on June 28, 2014, at the Merrimack Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

The daughter of the late William and Dorothy Porter, she was born in Sanford, Maine. Carol was a graduate of Sanford High School and New England Community College and worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Chester Academy in Chester.

Carol was dedicated to her work, helping children in her position at Chester Academy, and enjoyed gardening, antiquing, yard sales, skiing and travel. She was a member of the Seacoast Ski Club and especially enjoyed ski vacations to Vail and the Italian Alps with annual vacations to Sanibel Island, Fla.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Gretchen Wilson, of Hampstead, and Kristen Roy, of Seabrook; grandchildren, Brock and Dana Wilson, of Hampstead, and Mark, Jenna and Jessica Roy, of Exeter; her sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Allen Iverson, of Somersworth, and Gail and Timothy Sheehan, of Manchester; and her brother, Gary Porter, of Center Barnstead, and his partner, Claire Gendron.

My heartfelt sympathies to Carol's family. Carol and I used to hang out together on some of the Seacoast Ski Club excursions-hiking, doing trail maintenance, camping and x-country skiing. Carol had lots of energy and enthusiasm for outdoor activities. She was fun to be with. She also had a good and caring heart. I recall her often speaking of her daughters and grandchildren with great pride.

My sympathy goes out to Carol's family as I knew her from the Seacoast Ski Club and I also grew up in Hampstead. We shared the same birthday(April 11) and 1 year the club went to Mt Tremblanc and she gave me a "happy birthday on our mutual b'day"card. Always smiling and full of fun. My thoughts are with you Linda Piehl Connors
