Bernard LaBrecque Obituary

ACTON, Maine — Bernard H. LaBrecque, Sr., 90, of Acton, passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at his home in Acton surrounded by his family.

Born in Somersworth, N.H. on Oct. 22, 1919, he was a son of the late Adelard and Ellen (Boulanger) LaBrecque. He attended local schools, graduating from Berwick High School in 1938.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Panama Canal with the 210th General Hospital as a surgical technician. He then worked in the local woolen mills as a supervisor, retiring after 26 years of service. He continued working as a rural carrier and then at the Acton transfer station.

He was a member of the Sanford VFW and the AMVETS.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Rita Gosselin, two sons, Ronald and Roland LaBrecque, brother Robert LaBrecque, and sister Annette O'Malley.

He is survived by his wife, Evangeline (Mee) LaBrecque of Acton, two sons, Bernard LaBrecque Jr., of Lebanon, and Richard LaBrecque of Alfred, two daughters, Priscilla Hilton of Atlanta, Ga., and Lois Michaud of Acton, 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no services at this time.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, N.H.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
