Robert Cilley Obituary

NEWMARKET - Robert H. "Bob" Cilley died suddenly at his home on Monday, October 26, 2015. In his younger years, he was very active in 4H and working at the neighboring Knowles Farm.

He joined the Air Force in 1965 serving with the 8th Civil Engineering Squadron at Travis Air Force Base. In 1966, he spent two years at Ubon Air Base Thailand, performing construction duties which earned him commendation medals. When he came back to the states, he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base until he was honorably discharged on June 11, 1969.

He met his wife Betty in 1968 and they married April 4, 1970. They had three children; Howard, Adam, and Julianne and four wonderful grandchildren, Jessica, Connor and William Cilley and Mason Illes.

He built a maple sugar house near his residence and enjoyed teaching many children about the fine art of maple sugaring.

Robert worked many jobs, but the job he loved the most was at UNH. For 35 years, he was the structural maintenance supervisor of facilities.

Upon retiring, he enjoyed working at his maple sugar house cooking breakfast and selling his antiques.

He loved gardening, selling veggies to his neighbors and giving gardening tips to his children.

At Christmas he delighted many families with his colorful yard display. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 1st from 2 – 5 p.m. with an American Legion Service at 5 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket, and also visitation on Monday from 10 -11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home.
