Betty Witmer Obituary

Mrs. Betty Jane Witmer, 55, of Frederick, died Monday, December 25, 2006, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late James V. Witmer, who died in 2004.

Born February 7, 1951, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Emma Staggs Vincent. Mrs. Witmer was a licensed practical nurse, retiring from Springfield State Hospital in 1998 after 27 years of service. She was a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church, Yellow Springs, as well as the VFW in Keyser, W.Va. She was a caring mother and truly loved being a grandmother.

Surviving is a son, James W. Witmer and wife Denise of Mount Airy; a daughter, Veronica M. Scott and husband Greg of Frederick; a granddaughter, Madison Witmer of Mount Airy; three brothers, Louis Vincent and wife Patty of Valdosta, Ga., John Vincent and wife Brenda of Stafford, Va., and Thomas Vincent and wife Peggy of Westminster; a sister, Mae Greaser and husband William of Elk Garden, W.Va.; a special cousin and friend, Julia Hott of Manchester and a special friend, Cindy Gouker of Frederick.

Mrs Witmer was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Muller.

Services and interment will be private.
