Charbonneau, Jr.

Louis H. Louis Henry Charbonneau, Jr., 93, on May 11, 2017 in Lomita, California.  Husband of Diane, brother of Helen Mellett (Bruce), Ann Kolitio (Ronald) and the late Francis and Michael, and uncle of 23 nieces and nephews.  Louis graduated from University of Detroit High School and the University of Detroit, earning a B.A. and M.A.  He was a U.S. Army Air Force Sergeant veteran of WWII.  Louis returned to his studies after WWII and taught English at U. of D. for several years before moving to California where he wrote a column for the L.A. I was speaking to my daughter about Lou and googled him. I am sorry to hear of his passing last year. We worked together in Newport Beach at RR Donnelley many years ago. I purchased several of his books from him and he autographed them for myself and my daughter who was 8 at the time (now 31). He was such a kind man and enjoyed talking to my Amber about her favorite author Roald Dahl who was his friend. We now live in Ohio, but we haven't forgotten his kindness. RIP Lou
