PIERRE ARGAIN Obituary

Pete Argain was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, the youngest son of Domingo and Manuela Argain. Pete grew up in a traditional Basque home and learned the value of working hard, helping with the family's sheep ranch with his siblings, Joe, John, Bernard, Salvet and Marion. He learned the auto parts business with Pioneer Mercantile before he served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he moved to Fresno, CA, where he opened Argain's Auto Supply in 1950, which he ran for 30 years. He left retirement to build homes in Cambria, CA, and sold real estate in Fresno. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Bradley Gerow; and his second wife, Ruth Shaw Argain. He is survived by two children, Michael, and Denise; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Nicole, Michael Gary, Charles, Scott, and Christopher; six great-grandchildren; and special nephew George. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be sent to Hinds Hospice at 2490 W Shaw Ave., Ste. 101, Fresno, CA 93711.

I'll be missing you, Grandpa Pete!! He always was encouraging me in my youth to succeed in school, music, and sports. He was responsible for inspiring my career in the Information Systems & Technology field by exposing me to his computer and early online web access in the early 1990's on his 9600 baud modem (my home internet access is precisely 5330 times faster than those days). I didn't get to see or talk to him very much after my teenage years which I grieve tremendously. I am thankful I had the opportunity to visit with him soon before he passed, although there were so many things I was hoping to chat with him about at our next visit. Perhaps in heaven we'll finally have that chat. My condolences to the rest of the family and people who knew him.
