Jane Lyle Wardlaw

1930 - 2016

Jane Lyle Boggs Wardlaw, 85, died peacefully of natural causes on Friday, March 25, 2016, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Her devotion to her family, along with her firm Christian belief in God, was a source of strength throughout her life and especially when her quality of life diminished.
Jane is survived by her brother, Thomas J. Boggs, and his wife, Jan; four children, Michael P. Wardlaw and his wife Kathy, Jay J. Wardlaw, Jana F. (Wardlaw) Barnett and her husband Glenn, and Mark L. Wardlaw and his wife Rhonda; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Jane was born on May 22, 1930, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late James J. and Frances T. Boggs. She attended Etowah High School and graduated from Jacksonville State Teachers College, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught school throughout her adult life, primarily at the Ireland Private School in Trenton, New Jersey.
Jane married her high school sweetheart, the late Jerry P. Wardlaw. Jane's and Jerry's love of football was passed down to all four of the children and grandchildren using two simple words, "Roll Tide!"
Jane loved her church, the Wesley Grove Chapel Church in Yardville, New Jersey, and was the assistant to the pastor, and its secretary for many years.
Jane Lyle's memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Chapel, Gadsden. The Rev. Mark Parris, First United Methodist Church, Attalla, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. before the service. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing. The burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Forrest Cemetery, Gadsden.
