CLEVINGER JR., EARNEST

Earnest Clevinger Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on May 28th 2011. He was the oldest of five children born to the late Bessie and Earnest Clevinger Sr. in Kentucky. He has been married to Bernice Clevinger for 60 years. He will be forever missed and remembered by his children David Clevinger, Pam Drake, Rosey Dollar, Sheila Colding and Barbie Moss; his brothers Carl, Clayton, and Gerald Clevinger, and his sister Betty Workman; his grandchildren Brenda Gibson, Michele and Mark Clevinger, Elizabeth Sutton, Durward Drake, Tara and Casey Colding, Candace and Katie Moss; his great grandchildren Summer Gibson, Cameron and Jonathon Griffis, Lila and Austin Sutton, Colton Ernst, and Payton Drake; He was preceded in death by grandchildren Heather Drake and Brad Drake.

Earnest touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all his life. He grew up in Kentucky, then joined the military and traveled the world. He was a Master Seargent in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service as a C-130 flight engineer. He was certified as an electrician and worked for the University of Florida for many years. His family operated Clevingers' Lakefront Cottages in Earleton Florida in the 1970-1980's. He lived in Waldo, Florida for the last 20 years. He has been active in the community and volunteered for many organizations.

A memorial for Earnest will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at the First Baptist Church in Waldo. There will be a viewing at 9:00am with the service starting at 10:00am., Pastor Jim Dubois officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Waldo Masonic Lodge #10 F&AM.

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating to the Alachua County Food4Kids Backpack Program or to your favorite children's charity.

Mr Clevinger and Daddy, Murl Lucas were blessed by God to be great friends. they enjoyed eating out and visiting. they loved their Sunday School class. Mr. Clevinger was a joy to be around. He is med and pain free today because he believed God's promises. Saying goodbye to a parent is not easy, we'll pray for God to give you comfort to meet the coming days.

we met Earnest at Gainesville #41 an became friends.Next was Waldo #10, where I became Worshipful Master and Earnest was alwalys there with a smile and a joy to be with. We will miss him and send our prayers to his family during this sad time. With love Ws. Tony Spitaleri & Sister Sylvia
