FRANCESCA PARLAPIANO Obituary

PARLAPIANO, FRANCESCA

Francesca Parlapiano, Artist, English teacher to Native American and Migrant children, avid reader and extraordinary Gardner died May 16th at the age of 94 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by and will be missed by her sister Josephine Faiella, her three children, Pamela, Alan, and James Parlapiano, her daughter in laws Cathy and Lisa Parlapiano her grandchildren Michael and his wife Clelia, Robert and his wife Elizabeth, Adam and his wife Corie, Jessica and her husband Tom, Amy and her husband Timothy, and Reed. Her great grandchildren are Isabella, Natalie, Kate, Collin, Sidney and Gavin. She is predeceased by her loving husband Silvio Parlapiano

She was interested in everyone she met and curious about so many things. She laughed and sang till the end. Like the title from one of her favorite authors Maya Angelou she was a "Phenomenal Woman" who came from the South Bronx and found where to use all that she had inside

Born in New York City, she moved to Florida in 1960 and was a 34 year resident of Marco Island before moving to Gainesville in 2002.

If you met Francesca you probably learned a little Italian and a song.

Arrangements are entrusted in Moring Funeral Home, Melrose, FL.

I met Mrs. Parlapiano while she resided at The Atrium via an invitation from a friend of mine who is a caretaker there to attend a "spaghetti supper" and several times after that! She was truly a joy! As I am of Italian descent, we had a great time with her trying to "brush me up on my Italian". I was sorry to hear of her passing! May all good memories of her stay with you always! -- Claudia Harris

Fran's enthusiam and joy for life has been a great inspiration to many .She is held secure in our memories. We are happy to have had the privilege of knowing her.
