MOTHER AMANDA OATTS



Mother Amanda Oatts, 103 departed this life on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 5:20P.M. at the home of James and Marilyn Frazier.



Mother Oatts was born on April 22, 1905 in Sneads, FL the 5th of 13 children. At the age of 32, she married James Oatts. She and her husband worked on farms across Florida, transporting field workers to farms for a small fare. She worked as a forewoman in the Farm Industry helping many people find employment. She gave birth to one child who died as a infant, but she raised a niece, that nieces daughter, a nephew and six-step children as her own. Mother Oatts was a Devoted Christian and she loved to sing the songs of the Faith. Her Father's Faith and Commitment as a Preacher was her Inspiration. She received many awards: The Ebony Appreciation Awards as a Centenarian and She was featured in the Gainesville Guardian.



She leaves Precious memories with her family: grandchildren, Marilyn (James) Frazier, Fort White, FL, Elnora (Eddie Lee) West, Ronald Oatts, Wanda Oatts, Kathy Oatts, and Janice Wright all of Palmetto, FL, two daughter-in-laws, Geraldine Oatts, Palmettos, FL and Merci Dee Oatts, Port St. Joe, FL and two special great-granddaughters, Nikkie (Robert) Jammer of Fort White, FL and LaShandra (Nyron) Jenkins, of Gainesville, FL., Nineteen great-grandchildren, 23 great great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.



Visitation for Mother Oatts will be held at The Citadel Of Hope C.O.G.I.C., Fort White, FL today August 1, 2008 from 7:00P.M. until 9:00P.M. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August, 3, 2008 at 3:00P.M. at the Antioch M.B.C., Fort White, FL with her Pastor, Elder Eric Thomas, Officiating/Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
