Jim could always make me smile. He and I became friends in 1975; he never failed me in any way. This man had honesty, integrity, and an amazing work ethic. He will be greatly missed by millions who were touched by the sound of his voice. My deepest sympathy to all of those people who were connected to Jim's heart-strings...

I was lucky and honored to have been able to work with Jim over the past 4 years. His passion for radio was such an inspiration and it was something that never faded. In his own words- "It's not just radio......it's Magic". He was magic. He always had such a positive and happy attitude. You never ended a conversation with Jim without a smile or a laugh. He shared his experiences and knowledge with those of us who worked with him and I can only hope that we can continue to carry on the passion for radio that he did. Gainesville Radio will never be quite the same without him and I am SO glad I got to witness Jim's magic. Jim always talked about his "best friend", his dog Panzer. He loved Panzer so much. I find comfort in knowing that Panzer was there to greet Jim one last time as he returned home.....in heaven. We will be forever grateful for the gift of friendship that he shared with us and we will forever miss him and always remember our dear friend Jim.

Although my Father like his father was named James and my son is named James, partly for him, We were not related though who knows if you go back far enough. He was like my radio Dad but whenever people called the Radio station to ask if we were related, I would reply, he is my Son. They usually didn't know what to say to that. That is the beauty or radio. Most had never seen me, though most had seen Jim Brand from remotes. I learned how to do remote broadcasts from JB although I was terrified by my first one at the Waldo Farmers and Flea market. Mainly since he always did those broadcasts so well. I knew I could not measure up to that, but I knew what to try and do by his example. Between Jim and Augie Grant, my first Program Director, I learned all I needed to know to start my career. Thank You Jim. Hope to see you up In Radio Heaven in a few

To my beloved and original broadcast mentor...you were an angel unaware. You were an excellent teacher, a great supervisor, an unparalled friend, and ultimately a brother in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven. To Sally: Please know that Jim made a HUGE difference in my life and in many others.
With love, from Don Neel and Family

Jim exemplified a "pay it forward" philosophy that is one of the radio industry's best qualities. When I was a graduate student at UF in Gainesville, Jim Brand allowed me to work part-time at the radio station where he headed the programming department. In tribute to him and to other radio greats with the same approach, I'll pay it forward to the next generation of radio talent.

A true friend, mentor,"Radio Guru" to myself and many others. I had the pleasure of working with J.B. @ WLUS, doing a Saturday and Sunday evening air shift, and assisting with remotes. His distinctive voice will be missed by the radio listeners of this area. He will never be forgotten.
