Jacquelyn Stokes Obituary

STOKES, JACQUELYN MAE
(ROTTMAN), 84
Jackie Stokes, 84, died August 6 in Williston. She was born December 3, 1930, in Covington, KY, to John ('Jack') and Lorraine (Foley) Rottman. She moved to Gainesville in the mid-40s. In 1948, Jackie moved to Williston where she graduated from Williston High School in 1949 and married Alton Stokes.
Jackie is survived by her children, Pam (Mike) Howell (her caregivers) of Williston; Cindy (Marc) Link of Gainesville; Darryl (Belinda Turner) Stokes of New Braunfels, TX; grandsons Sean (Lynn) Fugate of Williston and Chance (Melissa Madril) Stokes of San Antonio, TX; and great-grandchildren Elle and Coy Fugate. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents.
Because a 6-year-old Jackie and her mother were rescued by The Salvation Army from a flooding Ohio River, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to The Salvation Army (P.O. 14403, Gainesville, FL 32604), or to her church (St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 615, Williston, FL 32696-0615), or to an animal rescue group.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knauff Funeral Home, 512 E. Noble Ave., Williston, FL, 32696. (352) 528-3481. Please sign the guestbook at
