VIVIANO, KARON E.
- March 6, 1946 -
January 22, 2018
Daughter of Edward (Lefty) L. Elliott (98yo); Martha Ryan Elliott (deceased) and Stepmother, Shirley Elliott. Born in the Baltimore, Maryland area.
Karon is survived by her husband of 40yrs Samuel T. Viviano, two daughters, Suzanne Young and Roxanne Young. Three grandsons, Cody Young, Ryan Young and Kevin Grice. One great grandson, five months old, Nikolas Young.
Karon earned her Bachelors in Home Economics from Baldwin Wallace College and obtained a Master's Degree in Home Economics from the University of Southern Mississippi. She also belonged to HEIB, the Home Economist in Business. She worked as a Sales Representative for Kraft Foods for five years. She freelanced for GE Appliances as an exhibitor demonstrating microwave cooking. She worked for 20 years as a Culinary Arts Professor at South Florida College in Avon Park.
Sam and Karon moved from Sebring Florida where they raised cattle and grew blueberries to the High Springs area in 2000. They built their home on three acres in the Santa Fe River Plantation neighborhood where Karon served 10 years as the President of their Home Owners Association.
Along with her husband, Karon was actively involved in dealing and the restoration of antiques for twelve plus years and enjoyed working with a couple of local antique shops within downtown High Springs.
She started her quilting days over 40 years ago and was known for her crafting skills and making sundresses, quilts and vests. She loved to travel to craft shows around the State of Florida from Sebring up to Dahlonega, Georgia. She belonged to the Tree-City quilting guild of Gainesville; she volunteered three years at Hospice of North Central Florida and loved making quilts for premature babies at Shands Hospital.
Sam and Karon have been members of St. Madeline's Catholic Church for 17 yrs.
The family requests donations be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are under the care of Evans Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, FL.
