Joseph Ward Obituary

Joe died on June 10, 2011 in Colorado Springs after a short illness. He was born on February 24, 1955 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to George and Margaret Ward, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Marion of Colorado Springs, his cherished daughter Alexandra E. Mueller of Prescott, Arizona and his sister Mary M. Thurston of Taunton, Massachusetts. Joe served in the U.S. Army as a Tank Mechanic. He was stationed in Korea and Germany and was an Iraq War veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After he retired from the U.S. Army, he worked in Apt. Maintenance. "GI Joe" enjoyed singing Karaoke in his favored bar, Diamond Debs. He was a kind and outspoken man and never turned away anyone in need. Joe took great pride in his work ethic and loved all animals; especially his cats. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Private Inurnment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
