John Ighnat Obituary



John G. Ighnat

John G. Ighnat, 58, of 143 Graymont Place, Danville, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his residence. Born April 16, 1952, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Ighnat and the late Martha Demas Ighnat. He was formerly employed with Dan River Inc. for 32 years and later worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He attended Central Blvd. Church of God and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was married to Pam Moore Ighnat, of the residence.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Marie Ighnat, of Danville; a stepdaughter, Melissa Ann Brown, of Danville; two sisters, Betty Jacobs, of South Riding, and Patricia Ighnat, of Dumfries; and two brothers, Robert Ighnat, of Luray, and Thomas Ighnat, of Steubenville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his half-sister, Bernadine Perinno.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, Danville, with the Rev. John Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be by American Legion Dan River Post 1097. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service, and at other times will be at the residence.
